Il progetto nasce dalla proposta Ferroverde-Pietralata un parco sospeso sopra il vallo ferroviario della Stazione Tiburtina. Si esprime metaforicamente attraverso “ponti di sutura”, rappresentati dal naturale prolungamento delle vie principali esistenti, che saldano la cicatrice urbana lasciata dalla linea ferroviaria e generano un sistema ciclo-pedonale diffuso di ponti verdi abitati, Il portale di accesso al piu vasto di questi Ponti il “Green Plate” è rappresentato dalla presenza del Hotel Ferroverde.
Questo prototipo di Hotel sperimenta l’uso e la flessibilità del green terrace system. i bagni delle unità abitative vengono slittati all’esterno dell’edificio i loro solai si trasformano in contenitori per un tetto giardino dedicato a ciascuna unità.
L’Hotel Sospeso sopra una grande piazza si presenta come un organismo complesso capace di accogliere un mix di funzioni. È un prototipo che si distingue per unità modulari, progettate per target differenti ma integrate in un unico ecosistema, student housing, con micro-unità efficienti, spazi condivisi per studio e socialità, long stay / digital nomads, unità flessibili con cucina, workspace e servizi dedicati ai Turisti, camere e suite modulari per soggiorni brevi wellness guests, unità orientate al benessere, silenzio, luce e materiali naturali, unità abitative per il social housing. Ogni tipologia può essere riconfigurata nel tempo in base alla domanda del mercato locale.
HOTEL FERROVERDE
Hotel Ferroverde is part of the Ferroverde–Pietralata Urban Regeneration Project, where the reconnection of the Tiburtina Railway Corridor is achieved through a network of Stitching Bridges that extend the existing street system into inhabited green infrastructures, creating elevated public spaces, pedestrian and cycling routes, and a continuous urban landscape. Located at the entrance to the largest of these bridges, known as the Green Plate, Hotel Ferroverde represents a new-generation hospitality prototype based on the Green Terrace System. By relocating the bathrooms to the building’s outer perimeter, the roof of each service core is transformed into a private rooftop garden, naturally extending every guest room into an outdoor living space.
Suspended above a large public plaza, the building is conceived as a flexible ecosystem composed of modular accommodation units designed to meet the needs of different user groups while sharing the same architectural and social framework. It integrates student housing with compact micro-units and shared spaces for study and social interaction, flexible long-stay residences for digital nomads equipped with kitchens, workspaces and dedicated services, modular hotel rooms and suites for short-term visitors, wellness-oriented units designed around silence, natural light and healthy materials, and residential units for social housing. Thanks to its modular organization, each accommodation type can be reconfigured over time, allowing the building to adapt to changing market demands and the evolving needs of the local community while ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience.
